Dear Members,
We thought we would remind members of what your Institute does and the benefits it provides for the extremely competitive £140 annual membership subscription.
- We are the only Institute in the Investigation Industry. We offer Professional Investigators from the Public and Private sector, membership of an established Professional body that entitles members to use the post nominals; MIPI (or FIPI or CIPI if awarded).
- We are a financially solid non-profit organisation, no exorbitant salaries, run for members, by members with the minimal necessary expenses used to ensure smooth running.
- Members have direct access to the Board; this direct interaction and regular submission of suggestions forms a core part of the management and direction of the Institute.
- We continually strive for and lobby for Government regulation of the Private sector investigation industry and supported with this objective by our esteemed member and member of the House of Lords, The Lord Davies of Gower.
- We encourage a collaborative approach with other bodies representing Professional and Private Investigators in areas such as the industry recognised Joint code of ethics and Professional conduct. This obligates adherence to these codes, including GDPR compliance, by our members, a breach of said codes would result in disciplinary action. We are not in competition with any other body in this industry.
- Our members are obligated to undergo DBS vetting and have Public liability / Professional indemnity insurance cover and ICO registration (or equivalent cover by their relevant employer and or other jurisdictions). Following a presentation by Case Analytics at our AGM we encourage our private sector members to consider the services of Case Analytics and their associated bespoke comprehensive Professional Investigator Insurance. This provides competitive monthly insurance premium combined with a GDPR compliant case management database.
- We ensure a high bar for membership criteria focussed on a verifiable investigation background and pedigree from Police, Law Enforcement agencies, Military or for applicants from non-public sector backgrounds a recognised academic investigative qualification in addition to this members are interviewed and references contacted.

We do not subcontract our courses. The IPI is a listed training provider for Skills for Justice, and we also offer our courses to Ex military through ELCAS. IPI Academy.
